The importance of this stage for the professional development of each police officer and for the formation of the “new police” in general has been substantiated. The emphasis has been paid to the fact that a person who did not pass initial professional training can not fully perform the functions of a police officer. It has been considered how the initial professional training influences the personality of a police officer, how it shapes the consciousness of the future professional. The author has indicated on the main problems that were distinguished during the personnel training for the National Police of Ukraine, and has offered the ways of their solution.</p> <p>It has been noted that to train a qualified law enforcement officer, the term of training should last at least 1-2 years, and the process of obtaining knowledge and skills should undergo significant qualitative and quantitative changes. The author has emphasized on the necessity of more advanced legal training of police officers, on the one hand, and the increase of study hours for practical training, on the other hand. It has been concluded that only due to such a complex, multilateral process it will be possible to get high quality professionals.</p&gt;}, number={3}, journal={Law and Safety}, author={Shvets, D.
