PECULIARITIES OF CHANGING ROLE EXPECTATIONS AND HARASSMENT WITHIN MARRIAGE OF YOUNG WOMEN OVER THE LAST DECADE

Keywords: family, domestic and family relations, role expectations and harassment within marriage

Abstract

The differences in the expectations of married and unmarried women in relation to family and marital relations and their transformation over time have been analyzed.

According to the results of the research conducted in 2006 and 2016, it has been demonstrated that married women became more demanding than before for men and themselves in terms of contributing to family and marital relationships;, personal identification with the husband, sexual and economical spheres became more significant for them. In most spheres, unmarried women have somewhat declined expectations of a future husband and increased their own harassment. The concept of family life for unmarried women has also changed in the decade: personal identification with the husband and household spheres became more significant for them. Expectations for a future husband have been somewhat reduced and own harassment has increased.

The importance of personal identification with a husband has grown for married and unmarried women, reflecting expectations regarding the commonality of interests, needs, value orientations, ways of spending time; orientation on own responsibilities for the upbringing of children has also grown. Insignificantly, the desire to satisfy their own professional needs and to be a family “psychotherapist” has been increased.

The significance of the sexual sphere for women who are married is higher than for unmarried peers. The importance of non-family interests and the orientation for marriage as an environment conducive to psychological disorder and stabilization is higher for married women than for unmarried ones. In married women, more than non-marital women, they also have a greater focus on their own responsibilities in bringing up children, expressing their own professional needs, aspiration to be a family “psychotherapist”.
