Abstract

The author of the article has analyzed theoretical aspects of such professionally important quality of a police officer’s personality as responsibility. It has been demonstrated that responsibility as a professional quality of a person enters the core of professionally important qualities that ensure effectiveness in the complex organized activities of police officers, as well as general regulation of the vital activity of an individual. At various stages of human development, various systems of psychological qualities are formed, which allows us to consider the personality of a cadet as an integral and open system, where various changes and its development take place, as well as the purposeful formation of professionally important personal qualities.

In the empirical part the author has studied the specificity of the responsibility of cadets – future law enforcement officers, who are trained in the context of a psychological support program. The revealed statistical regularities indicate the manifestation of individual components of responsibility among cadets being trained in the framework of the psychological support program, in contrast to cadets being trained under the regular program. As a result of the research, it has been revealed that cadets being trained within the psychological support program are more exposed to such indicators of responsibility as regulatory internality, self-affirmation, self-realization and emotional asthenic. The studied cadets of this group had more positive experiences associated with the execution of responsible matters, in contrast to cadets who are trained under normal conditions. They were more inclined to shift their responsibility to other people and external circumstances. It has been demonstrated that training of cadets in the context of the psychological support program contributes to the effective formation of professional responsibility among cadets – future law enforcement officers.
